Grub loader Crash [SOLVED]

Help and support for Ultimate Edition 3.5

Ok installed the drivers with no issues. But next comes more crazy stuff.. After it went back to the desktop, I went ahead and did a system updated. Once the sytem rebooted, I got the kind of desktop you would get in windows before you install any drivers.. I said what is this.. So I went to additional drivers and it showed some driver was activated but not sure which.. So I rebooted again, and all it does now is give me a tty interface and that is it. No matter how many times I reboot I get the same thing..

Installing from additional drivers is a nuisance ....you need to deactivate or uninstall it.........it means you got both nvidia open source and proprietary drivers installed.
You need to uninstall the open open source drivers for the prop drivers to work correctly ..

follow the instructions here............
http://askubuntu.com/questions/206283/h ... completely

you mustn't touch xorg ........let that be just purge the drivers fully and maybe even uninstall the proprietary drivers and then after a full purge reinstall only the proprietary driver.

Pam I appreciate all your help.. I followed the instruction on the link. But like always it ended up un-installing all Nvidia period.. I did not include Xorge or what ever you call it.. but in the end had to do another fresh install, and this time it all worked very well.. Went and did a update and after that made sure that Nvidia was installed and it was.. It is not the latest but the one installed via the install disk.. I plan on updating to the newer version which is 310.19 later..

Now another question. Being up late and working hard to get this going I screwing up my windows installation, all I have on here is UE3.5. When I install Windows it will go on to another separate disk. When it loads I'm sure it won't even give me the option to run 3.5. When all is said and done, how to get it to give me the option to enter either Linux or windows? Does the suggestion you gave earlier work? Or will I have to do something different.. Thanks again..

install grub-customizer and change and check the time for how long the grub screen must last... :!: :!:

nonetheless check on terminal whether your windows partition is detected by grub by typing:

Code: Select all
sudo update-grub2
