1> you can download a gui utility for editing grub files--from the terminal type this:
- Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:danielrichter2007/grub-customizer
- Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
- Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install grub-customizer
Once installed you can open grub-customizer and edit the time, kernel to boot, boot order etc.....
TO know if grub has already detected and included windows and other stuff to the grub screen at boot up type this at terminal:
- Code: Select all
sudo update-grub2
The above command will refresh the grub list for including the chainloaders for any other os that may be installed on your system.....
if windows shows in the list it means you need to adjust the timing of the grub file--- do this via grub-customizer...
2> The Nvidia driver that you downloaded has the attached .sh extension at the end of the file...........if not then it may be a compressed file with either .zip or .bzip2----extract the file..........then you will get the .sh extension file....
Now to install it open terminal and type:
- Code: Select all
sudo su
sh <Nvidia proprietary driver file-name>.sh
...........press enter and it should start installation...carry on
