Wanted to get into Android for a while myself but couldn't justify the expense of a half decent tablet.
When Google released the Nexus 7 at a supposed $199 for 8Gb I thought ok, we're getting close.
But after all the fanfare died down and I looked at the delivered price in Australia ($249 for 8Gb and $299 for 16Gb plus delivery) and no external SD, no rear camera, no HDMI, I thought better of it.
Started doing the old interwebs research and came accross a company called 'Ainol'. Figured tablets were a pain in the (proverbial) so thought maybe this company's name was a sign.
Picked up the Novo 7 Flame, 16Gb, External Micro SD, HDMI, 5MB rear camera as well as front camera, everything else provided in the box, delivered for $152 AUD. Not too shabby. Build quality is great, 5 touch capacitive screen, brushed aluminium back, looks good.
All I wanted it for was to play around.
Had a bit of chat with TheeMahn - he only just got his tablet back. Suggested he try porting UE3.5 on his and I'd do the same with Black Opal on mine and we'd compare notes.
Few pics:
Certainly usable but far from release quality.
Ultimate Android may not be too far away.
Cheers.
